Morecambe WwTW Catchment Strategy, Morecambe, Lancashire: Rapid Desk-based Assessment

United Utilities proposed the installation of a 10.71km long pipeline running from the west side of Morecambe, to the east of Heysham and then on to Sunderland Point. The landscape in the vicinity of the proposed pipeline contains sites of a range of periods, including Mesolithic and Early Medieval remains at Heysham, although it is dominated by post-medieval and 20th century development.

United Utilities requested Oxford Archaeology North (OA North) to undertake a desk-based assessment of the immediate environs of the proposed pipeline to provide information of any archaeological constraints and inform any requirement for further archaeological work. Greenlane Archaeology was subsequently subcontracted to carry out the data collection and compile the report.
