Williamsgate, Redmain, to Isel Hall Pipeline, Cumbria: Desk-based Assessment

United Utilities proposed the installation of a pipeline between Williamsgate, close to the A595 at Redmain, and Isel Hall, Cumbria, all of which lies within the north-western part of the Lake District National Park (NGR 313633 534192 – 316336 533969). As a result of the potential for negative impacts upon heritage assets of archaeological interest during works associated with the pipeline, United Utilities requested Oxford Archaeology North (OA North) undertake a desk-based assessment of the immediate environs of the proposed route. The desk-based assessment examined a corridor 500m wide and was undertaken by Dan Elsworth (Greenlane Archaeology).
